#nil $NIL @Nillion There’s been a lot of activity in the privacy space lately, and the more I look at Nillion’s roadmap, the more I think there’s something to it.

Let’s start with the core idea: Covenants. Put simply, they seal instructions in encrypted form and automatically unlock and execute them only when certain conditions are met. That makes front-running pretty much impossible, while keeping strategies and execution details hidden—something that’s especially important for on-chain finance.

The roadmap unfolds in several stages. The first, Dusk, is already live on Ethereum mainnet (August–November 2026). Conditional triggers, permissionless nodes, and a developer SDK are all in place, establishing the foundation. Next, Darkfall through Skyglow (late 2026 to mid-2027) will expand to multiple EVM chains and cross-chain settlement, allowing a transaction to be observed on one chain and executed on another, before gradually adding support for non-EVM chains. After that, Nightside through Moonshine (mid-2027 to early 2028) will bring custom condition logic, a formal language and VM, and post-quantum hardening. The end goal is to make privacy markets affordable enough for everyday use.

But however advanced the technology is, what matters in the end is whether it solves real-world problems. I’ve always felt that as on-chain applications grow more complex, people need more than transparency—sensitive information also needs to be protected in many situations. So now that Dusk is live on mainnet, I’m especially interested in how the ecosystem develops and whether developers can put it to practical use.

What I’m most excited about is seeing what real-world use cases emerge when Covenants are integrated with existing applications. In particular, I’m curious whether developers will be able to access these privacy capabilities more easily and build genuinely useful applications for data protection and privacy-preserving computation.

I’ll keep following the product and ecosystem’s progress to see how far it can go.
