BTC Perpetuals Overnight: Levels Matter More Than Direction

In the derivatives market, I only watch how crowded the trade is—not what people are saying in chat groups.

I only care about three sets of numbers for perpetuals. Everything else is noise.

1. BTC 80,988; 24h range 80,226–84,147; change -3.01%.
2. BTC open interest (notional): $7.39 billion, 24h -3.57%
3. Account-wide long/short ratio: 1.79

My take: The funding rate at 0.0043% is close to zero, and the long/short ratio is 1.79. Leverage has no clear bias. If the market hasn’t picked a side, don’t use high leverage to pick one for it.

Execution levels (based on the current price ± structure, not an old chart):
- Momentum zone: Only consider chasing if price gets above 81,636. Without a break above, it’s a false breakout.
- Buy the pullback: 80,016–80,502; don’t buy if that level fails.
- No-trade zone: If the 1h candle closes below 79,530, I’m out of this trade.

My position: I don’t try to catch the first drop. Until the price decline is accompanied by falling open interest, buying on the way down is just catching a falling knife.

Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. I don’t fill in missing numbers.
Would you place a limit order at the pullback level, or wait for the candle to close?

Useful takeaway: The dot plot shows each official’s individual projection; it is not a decision on the next meeting.
Food for thought: Open interest down, price flat: that’s position reduction, not accumulation. The market hasn’t paid for a direction yet.
