【ETH has fallen twice as much as BTC, but institutions may be buying the dip—you may be reading this downturn wrong】

ETH plunged nearly 10% again this week, down 6.2% in 24 hours and 8.4% over seven days. Nearly $1 billion worth of crypto positions were liquidated, with ETH accounting for almost 60%—its decline was twice that of BTC.

Honestly, when people see these numbers, their first reaction is probably: Is ETH done for? Is its ecosystem dead?

But I’ve seen this scenario play out too many times—when prices fall, everyone can find a reason to be bearish. I’d rather pour a little cold water on that: have you noticed one thing?

ETH has already pulled back more than 52% from its peak. Historically, this range is where long-term investors start paying attention to value. Big money isn’t stupid. By the time prices have fallen this far, those who were going to sell have already done so. The rest are either holding on for dear life or quietly starting to build positions.

VanEck’s withdrawal of its application for a Lido staked Ether ETF looks bearish on the surface, but consider another angle: regulators are more cautious about staking ETFs than people expected. This isn’t an ETH problem—it’s regulatory pressure across the entire staking sector. Under this kind of pressure, genuinely strong projects will survive, while the junk gets cleared out.

From a business perspective, Standard Chartered’s expansion of BTC and ETH trading to professional investors in the UAE shows that traditional institutions are still moving ahead with their crypto asset strategies. That demand won’t disappear because of short-term volatility.

Next week, keep an eye on whether the $ 2285-2575 range can hold. Sentiment is still deteriorating, the FNG index is already below its weekly average, and momentum is weak. But my own view is that there’s limited room for prices to fall further from here.

Has my view changed this week? Yes— I was more cautious before, but now I think long-term opportunities are getting closer, though we still need to wait for a signal in the short term.
