ZK is up around 10% in 24 hours: 4-hour volume and OI are rising in tandem, but the previous high still needs confirmation
The short version: ZK’s rally currently looks more solid than a simple derivatives-driven rise—the spot and perpetual markets are moving in the same direction, trading volume on the latest completed 4-hour candle has expanded significantly, and both OI quantity and notional value have rebounded in tandem. However, 0.018688–0.018800 remains a resistance zone at the previous high. The 12:00–16:00 candle has not yet closed, so an intraday touch of the previous high cannot yet be described as a confirmed breakout.
As of 13:52 Beijing time on October 15, Binance ZKUSDT perpetuals were trading at 0.017448, up 10.605% over 24 hours, with trading volume of approximately 62.83 million USDT; spot was trading at 0.017430, up 10.316% over 24 hours, with trading volume of approximately 15.77 million USDT. The gains are similar, indicating that this price move is not limited to the perpetual market. However, perpetual and spot trading volumes are statistics from different markets and cannot be added together and interpreted as “net inflows.”
Looking at the completed 4-hour candlesticks, the 08:00–12:00 candle rose from 0.015795 to 0.017368, reaching a high of 0.018688, with trading volume of approximately 37.19 million USDT. The preceding 04:00–08:00 candle had trading volume of approximately 9.77 million USDT, so volume increased about 3.8 times. Improving price and volume together is a positive sign, but the surge in volume could also indicate position turnover at higher levels. The next candle’s close is still needed to confirm whether the move will continue.
Leverage data also points to a recovery in participation: OI quantity rose from approximately 458.3 million at 08:00 to approximately 476.4 million at 12:00, an increase of about 3.96%. By notional value, it rose from approximately 7.19 million USDT to approximately 7.53 million USDT, an increase of about 4.69%. This suggests that new positions entered or existing positions were rebuilt during the rally. However, OI alone cannot tell us whether those new positions are predominantly long or short, so rising OI by itself is not enough to conclude that bulls are in control.
The funding rate is currently approximately -0.008580% per period and remains negative. This means funding costs temporarily favor shorts, and may reflect continued demand for short positions in the perpetual market. But a negative funding rate is not automatically a bullish signal; if the price pulls back, leveraged positions may also be liquidated more quickly.
There are three key levels to watch next:
First, the previous high zone of 0.018688–0.018800. A breakout will look more convincing only if the 4-hour candle closes above this zone and volume does not quickly fade. An intraday move above it does not count as confirmation.
Second, 0.017368, the closing price of the latest completed 4-hour candle. If the price pulls back but finds support around this level, it would suggest that the breakout attempt still has structural support.
Third, 0.015750, the low of the latest 4-hour candle. If the price falls below this level again, it would mean the short-term structure of this high-volume rally has weakened significantly. The breakout thesis would need to be abandoned, and not every decline can continue to be explained as a “retest.”
Therefore, the most appropriate way to describe the current situation is: ZK has rallied alongside spot-market activity, higher volume, and rising OI, but a breakout above the previous high is not yet confirmed. Anyone considering chasing the rally should wait for the close and the response to a pullback, while remaining especially alert to false breakouts and leveraged-position unwinding in a highly volatile market.
