STAGE 13 THE BURN MECHANISM: HOW DOES LUNC SUPPLY GET REDUCED?

THE BURN!!
But what actually happens when #LUNC is burned?
A burn permanently removes tokens from the usable supply by sending them to a burn address or otherwise removing them from circulation according to the applicable mechanism.
THE BASIC FLOW IS
ELIGIBLE TRANSACTION, TAX ALLOCATION, BURN & SUPPLY REDUCTION
#Terra_Classic has an on-chain tax mechanism that applies to many eligible transfers.
A major 2026 governance decision, Proposal #12223, passed a 1.5% on-chain tax rate, with the approved 80/10/10 allocation corresponding to:
1.2% to BURN
0.15% to COMMUNITY POOL
0.15% ORACLE POOL
So the burn mechanism isn't simply:
“Someone sends #LUNC and #LUNC disappears.”
There's an underlying economic process.
BUT LET'S NOTE CHAMPS, THAT BURN TAX ISN'T THE ONLY STORY..
LUNC can also be burned through other community, exchange and ecosystem mechanisms.
That's why total burn figures should always be examined by source and mechanism, rather than treated as one single process.
And here's what matters most:
BURNS REDUCE SUPPLY.
But reducing supply alone doesn't automatically create demand. SO
The bigger equation is:
SUPPLY + UTILITY + DEMAND = STRONGER ECONOMIC FOUNDATION
A burn mechanism can contribute to scarcity over time.
But its long-term significance depends on the amount burned, the pace of burns, network activity and whether the ecosystem continues generating real utility
THE REAL QUESTION
Don't just ask:
“How much LUNC has been burned?”
Bur ask:
“How much is being burned, through which mechanisms, and what activity is generating those burns?”
That's how you understand the burn beyond the headline number.
