The U.S. government itself is starting to think about stockpiling coins.
White House digital assets adviser Patrick Witt said in an interview that they’re studying whether to collect existing federal revenue streams—tariffs, taxes, and government service fees—directly in $BTC or convert them into Bitcoin to expand America’s Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. Not a penny more in taxpayer spending; buying directly on the open market would still require Congress’s approval.
Coincidentally, Witt’s White House detail assignment expired on October 14—the man has left, but the research must continue.
The crypto community, in all its varied forms:
Bulls: The national team is getting personally involved, and you’re still asking when the bull market will arrive?
Bears: “Studying it” = all talk. The federal government can barely make payroll, and it wants to stockpile Bitcoin?
Pragmatists: As long as it isn’t bought with tax increases, I’ll applaud.
Pick a side: historic tailwind, or just empty talk?
