Someone asked: After a transaction is broadcast but before it’s on-chain, where does it sit?
Here’s how I usually answer: Bitcoin supports Replace-by-Fee (RBF): you can create and sign a new transaction spending the same inputs with a higher fee to replace the one that hasn’t been confirmed yet. While a transaction is still in the mempool, it hasn’t been added to the blockchain and may still be replaced or removed before it’s included in a block.
