I was asked: After a transaction is broadcast but before it’s added to the blockchain, where does it wait?
I usually answer like this: There isn’t one unified transaction pool across the entire network. Each node maintains its own pool according to its own rules, so the contents may not be exactly the same. Block space is limited, and miners usually prioritize transactions with higher fees. So when the network is congested, transactions with lower fees have to wait longer in the queue.

If you have friends who are new to the space, feel free to pass this along to them.
