How overnight U.S. stocks and crypto are moving together—clearly explained
Don’t use last week’s rate-cut narrative to explain today’s market.
Today, I’m not guessing price levels; I’m only looking at numbers that have already come in.
Dow 51,621 (5-day +0.86%, Yahoo)
S&P 500 7,719 (5-day -1.06%, Yahoo)
How it’s playing out: The Nasdaq is down 3.07% over 5 days, lagging the S&P 500’s -1.06%. Growth stocks are falling behind. Chasing AI coins now means taking on beta that U.S. stocks have already started dumping.
BTC 81604, 24h trading volume $1.56 billion. ETH/BTC 0.02955. ETH is down 3.92% over 24h, weaker than BTC at -2.19%; the exchange rate is 0.02955. Capital is retreating to BTC; wait for confirmation before moving into altcoins.
Looking ahead: On the crypto side, I’m watching just one thing: can BTC close above its 24h high of 84147? If it can’t, claims that it’s rising along with the market are just hot air.
My position: I’m not trying to catch the first knife. Until the drop is accompanied by falling open interest, buying on the way down is catching a falling knife.
Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing figures are left out.
Would you dare add to your position at this funding rate?

Useful takeaway: Basis = futures price minus spot price. With a positive basis, longs are paying.
Insight: Fear & Greed >75: things are getting heated; don’t add the first unit of leverage.
