The European Banking Authority has designated $USDC as the EU’s first “significant e-money token”—the only one to make the cut out of 45 applications.

Starting November 12, reserves, liquidity, and redemption plans will be directly supervised by the EBA, while France’s ACPR oversees governance. In plain English: stablecoins are now being treated as “systemically important” and closely monitored—not just getting compliance approval in a project team’s own echo chamber.

From a 985-and-others-waiting-to-break-even perspective: the ones that can truly clear the regulatory bar are the ones that look most like payment-layer infrastructure. The brighter the badge, the tighter the shackles.

Which do you use more for settlements: $USDC , or are you still betting on $USDT?
