Funding is settled at different intervals for different contracts: some settle every 8 hours, others every 4 hours, and during periods of extreme volatility, some contracts may be adjusted to settle every hour. Check the contract page for details.
Some people treat extreme funding rates as a contrarian indicator, but historically, there have been plenty of cases where prices continued moving in one direction even after funding rates reached extreme levels.
It’s more reliable when several indicators corroborate one another than when you look at just one, but even more indicators can’t provide a definitive answer.
