I’m often asked: How small can a Bitcoin amount be?
I usually answer like this: 21 million bitcoins converted to satoshis is about 2,100 trillion satoshis. Outputs with very small amounts may not be enough to cover the transaction fee when spent, and nodes’ default rules will treat such outputs as “dust” and refuse to relay them.
