【Pre-dawn recap | CPI blows past expectations and knocks BTC down, but on-chain activity is far from quiet】

Last night, U.S. September CPI came in at 3.7% year over year (vs. 3.6% expected), while core CPI rose to 2.6%, reviving rate-hike expectations. $BTC briefly fell below $82,000, and gold and silver prices plunged in tandem. Tensions in the Middle East added fuel to the fire: a container ship was struck and sank in the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Aramco's headquarters came under attack, and oil prices continued to rise, leaving little prospect of short-term relief from inflationary pressure.

But there are a few pieces of good news on the on-chain fundamentals worth noting:
🔹 $SOL The Alpenglow upgrade is scheduled to launch on mainnet on October 21, cutting finality from 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds
🔹 $CAKE The “Flip” proposal: LP fee share rises to 88%, daily emissions are cut by 69%, and CZ personally reposted it
🔹 Polygon completed its acquisition of Coinme, securing compliant payment licenses in 48 U.S. states
🔹 Pyth Network's Q3 ARR rose 86% quarter over quarter to $11.49 million, with revenue nearly doubling

The risks are macro; the opportunities lie in the fundamentals. Weather the headwinds from interest rates, and strong projects will be the first to bounce back.
