【Unusual on-chain signals— is FIL up to something?】

Trading volume suddenly surged to over 5% of its market cap—I have to say a few words about this.

FIL fell 8% in the past 24 hours, but it’s still up 6% on the weekly chart. Right now, it’s hovering between 1.06 and 1.23. The support and resistance levels are clear, and the next few days could determine which way it goes.

I checked the FNG sentiment index: 62, in the greed zone. The weekly average is also 62, so market sentiment is pretty steady. But here’s the interesting part—FIL has fallen nearly 100% from its all-time high, and its valuation is ridiculously low. You’d think panic selling would have driven it through the floor by now, so why is the market still so calm?

Here’s my take: it suggests that some money is accumulating at these low levels. This isn’t retail investors trying to catch the bottom—it’s organized accumulation. The unusual surge in trading volume is the signal.

Now the question is: can FIL actually deliver?

Filecoin’s pitch is decentralized storage, but we all know how competitive the storage market has become. People who need storage either use traditional cloud services or go straight to AWS. FIL’s competitors aren’t other blockchain projects—they’re the entire traditional storage industry. From a business perspective, the demand-side case hasn’t been proven yet.

But there’s something else I want to point out: AI is here. AI training requires massive amounts of data, data needs storage, and storage needs to be decentralized. If this network can truly meet AI’s data needs, the valuation story changes completely.

This isn’t a call to buy. From a business perspective, FIL is waiting for a catalyst: data demand in China and the data needs of AI development. Do I think it can really deliver?

I think it still needs time to prove itself. But if you’re following the storage sector, this is definitely a level worth watching closely.

Do you think this move in FIL is just an oversold bounce, or is there really a bigger story here?
