Uniswap v4 has processed over $44 billion in trading volume in the past 30 days, yet UNI is being questioned over whether it “earns enough.”

The market is no longer asking whether DEXs have business, but whether protocol activity can translate into value for UNI. Public discussions say v4 has handled nearly half of Uniswap protocol volume; other data puts total DEX sector fees in September at $539 million. Trading demand is substantial, but sector-wide fees cannot be attributed directly to Uniswap, let alone to UNI.

The debate stems from a different calculation: some say UNI generates about $266,000 in daily revenue, and use that to question its valuation. This figure has not been independently verified, and a single day’s revenue cannot be directly compared with 30 days of trading volume.

If v4 continues to grow, should the market first reassess the protocol’s competitiveness, or wait until UNI’s value capture has been properly quantified?
