$366 million from Musk for U.S. elections: where does the influence of money end and democracy begin? 💰

Elon Musk has already invested about $366 million in political campaigns and related groups ahead of the 2026 U.S. midterm elections. Since July alone, the amount is approximately $276 million.

According to Reuters, a significant portion of this money is aimed at supporting Republicans seeking to retain control of Congress.

For comparison: at the end of the 2024 election cycle, Musk’s contributions in support of Donald Trump and other Republicans were estimated at at least $288 million.

Senator Bernie Sanders has long criticized a system that allows billionaires to spend enormous sums on political campaigns.

And this raises an important question: even if such contributions are legal, don’t the wealthiest people gain disproportionate influence over political decisions?

What does this mean for markets? Political contributions alone do not determine the future of Tesla $TSLAB or SpaceX $SPCXB shares. But election results and possible regulatory changes could affect the technology sector, government contracts, and Musk’s business interests.
