Hardware wallet maker Ledger has suffered a supply-chain implant attack. The company has ordered distributors in six Southeast Asian countries and Hong Kong to pull all affected products from shelves and halt sales.
Ledger said the affected devices were implanted with hidden chips that read the 24-word recovery phrase during initialization and transmit it over LTE. All confirmed cases came through CryptoBilis, a distributor in Southeast Asia. On-chain investigators have traced suspected losses exceeding $86 million, which Ledger says it has not yet verified. European retailer MediaMarkt Saturn has also suspended sales, while Trezor announced that it will end all distributor authorizations starting in 2027.
