Who first came up with the concept of “smart contracts”?
Nick Szabo wrote a short introduction to smart contracts in 1994, then wrote another piece in 1996 exploring their applications in more detail.
“Smart contract” doesn’t mean “clever.” If a contract has a vulnerability, automatic execution can magnify the losses.
Ethereum, which $ETH is part of, brought the concept of smart contracts into large-scale practice. Currently 2440.56.
