🚨 Don't fall for this! The most common Binance P2P scam and how psychology can work against you.
Binance P2P trading is an incredible tool for safely exchanging cryptocurrency for your local currency. Binance's Escrow system holds the funds so no one can steal from anyone else. However, scammers actively try to get you to make a mistake outside the system.
The costly mistake here is releasing the cryptocurrency before verifying that the money has actually arrived in your bank account, giving in to pressure from the buyer.
How P2P scammers operate:
• Fake receipts: They send you an edited screenshot in the Binance chat that looks like a legitimate bank transfer receipt.
• The "Text Message" trick: You receive a fake SMS pretending to be from your bank, notifying you of a deposit. But when you open your banking app, your actual balance hasn't changed.
• Psychological pressure: They send desperate messages saying things like: "Please release it now, my child is in the hospital" or "My bank's system is slow, but I've already transferred the money. If you don't release it, my funds will be blocked."
How to protect your funds:
1. Log in to your bank: Don't trust screenshots, emails, or SMS messages. Open your bank's app and confirm that the money appears in your available balance.
2. Verify the name: The name of the person who transferred the money to you must exactly match the verified name Binance shows on the order. If the names don't match, you could be involved in a triangulation scam.
3. Never cancel an order if you've already paid, and never release the cryptocurrency if you haven't received the money. If there's a problem, press the Appeal button and let Binance Support step in.
Keep your funds safe, and don't let the timer pressure you! 🛡️
