【FIL up 6% in a week, FNG hits 62—the greed warning light is on】

Last week, the FNG Index was still at 58. Today, it’s already at 62. Sentiment has climbed this much in just one week.

FIL is up 6.3% over the week. Today’s 3.3% pullback is also within the normal range. But the question is: is this rally driven by improving fundamentals, or is it purely a matter of sentiment?

I’ve seen this same script play out far too many times since 2017.

Sentiment gets ahead of the facts. The Greed Index climbs from the bottom, trading volume starts to pick up, and everyone begins asking, “Is this the bottom?” And what happens? Often, there’s another leg down.

The FNG is at 62 now—not yet in the extreme territory above 75. But remember, historically, every greed-driven top has started with the FNG in the 60–70 range. Before BTC fell from $60,000 to $30,000 in May 2021, market sentiment stayed above 70 for two whole weeks.

The reality for FIL is this: its price is down nearly 100% from its ATH, so it is indeed deeply oversold. But being oversold doesn’t mean it will rebound right away. It depends on whether the project itself can generate real demand.

The storage sector has been telling its story for years. FIL’s number of nodes and network storage capacity are both growing—but what about real-world adoption? How many genuine enterprise users are using FIL for storage? Or is most of the activity just miners caught in a loop of “mining, staking, and waiting for the token price to rise”?

From a business perspective, FIL’s core idea is to “incentivize distributed storage with tokens.” But for distributed storage to truly replace traditional cloud storage, it needs a clear advantage in cost and efficiency. Does that logic hold up today? I’m not sure.

So my view is this: now is neither a good time to buy FIL nor a bad time to sell it. Wait a little longer. Let sentiment run further, let the FNG break above 70 or 75, and let those who see things clearly make their move first.

What do you think—can this FIL rally lead to real-world adoption, or is it just a sentiment-driven bounce?
