Tesla Sets Date for Second-Generation Roadster Event
On October 14, Tesla announced on X that its Roadster event will be livestreamed at 7:55 p.m. Central Time on the 15th (8:55 a.m. Beijing time on the 16th). The event was originally scheduled for October 1 in Waco, Texas, but was postponed due to weather.
Tesla first unveiled the second-generation Roadster concept at a launch event in 2017. It was originally positioned as Tesla’s first supercar developed entirely from the ground up. One of the car’s potential highlights, according to earlier reports, could be a thruster system that Musk has discussed publicly: cold-gas thrusters based on SpaceX technology installed in the car. The vehicle may feature around 10 thrusters in the area usually occupied by the rear seats, using changes in airflow and weight distribution to improve acceleration and cornering.
It is worth noting that Tesla has not confirmed that the thruster system will make it into production. Over the past year, Musk has discussed the idea publicly several times, but has not announced technical specifications, pricing, or a delivery timeline for models equipped with the feature.
