$BTC CPI comes in at 3.7%! Core inflation is still running hot—will the $83K drama continue? 🔥🤡📊
Tonight at 8:30 PM, I was right on time, glued to the screen waiting for the U.S. September CPI release. The anticipation was real. Then the numbers came out: okay, I get it… but I also don’t.
Headline CPI was 3.7%, basically in line with the market’s 3.6–3.7% estimate. Nothing dramatic there on its own. But core CPI rose 0.3% month over month, versus expectations of just 0.2%—that upside surprise was the main event tonight.
Who’s to blame? Gas prices shot up 9.1% in a month, and the energy index climbed 5.2%. Inflation this month was basically oil sprinting ahead while housing, airfare, and healthcare piled on too. In plain English: oil prices went nuts, and core inflation stayed uncomfortably warm.
So, will the Fed dare to make a move at its October 27–28 meeting? My take: they won’t act hastily, but I wouldn’t rule it out either. A 0.3% core reading is warm, but not scorching—it just keeps the “one more hike this year” suspense alive for another month. The real wild card is still oil. Brent crude is already above $106, and if anything flares up around the Strait of Hormuz, inflation here could catch a cold.
The markets played along too: $BTC is holding just above $83K and playing dead, while $ETH has stumbled below $2,500. The whole market seems to have reached an unspoken agreement: wait before the data, keep waiting after it, and see what the Fed says at the end of the month.
So, the “no trades before the data comes out” line I gave you earlier can now have a sequel: first see if price can test the $85K resistance, then see if it can hold $80.3K (the 50-day moving average). If both sides are waiting, we might as well wait until things are clearer before making a move.
Do you think the Fed will hike again at the end of the month? Come place your bets in the comments.
