Binance futures liquidations totaled $3.37 million in the past hour: $2.93 million in long positions (87%) and $440,000 in short positions.
After a liquidation event, I look at three things:
① Who got liquidated the most: if longs account for most of it, some long leverage has been flushed out;
② The largest liquidation was $ETH ($1.02 million); price swings afterward are often the biggest for this asset;
③ Did open interest fall too? A drop means leverage was indeed flushed out; no drop means new leveraged positions are entering.
In the futures market, managing drawdowns matters more than making quick money.
