Next, I’m watching to see whether $BSP can hold on to 38.11. It’s already up 2.89% over the past 24 hours, but I don’t treat licensing status and payment channels as the same thing. Coins.ph says its Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas license remains valid, denies knowingly serving offshore gaming or gambling operators, says users’ funds are safe, and says the platform continues to operate as a licensed institution. It didn’t directly clarify whether the entities in question had used the platform. The central bank had previously called for stronger internal controls and restricted InstaPay and PESONet transfers involving operating entity DCPay Philippines. Cash top-ups and QRPh collections are temporarily unavailable, while crypto trading, withdrawals, bill payments, and merchant QRPh payments remain available. DCPay holds an e-money issuer license, while Betur Inc. uses a separate virtual asset service provider license for crypto-asset services. The restrictions reportedly target the payment business, not the crypto side. With the price rising while the top-up option is temporarily shut, I’m more interested in whether the restrictions will ease. Which side are you on: the licensing statement or the restoration of payment channels?
