【Is “Uptober” Losing Its Magic? BTC ETFs See More Than $1.4 Billion in Monthly Outflows—Are Institutions Pulling Back? 🔥】

October has historically been a strong month for Bitcoin, so the market was expecting an “Uptober” rally.
But this year’s start has not gone as smoothly as hoped.
According to an October 14 report by AMBCrypto, cumulative net outflows from U.S. spot BTC ETFs in October have exceeded $1.45 billion. On October 7 alone, around $487 million flowed out, making it one of the largest single-day outflows since late June.
ETH ETFs are also under pressure. As of October 9, they had seen outflows for three consecutive weeks, totaling around $542 million. Another $60 million flowed out on October 13.
In short, both BTC and ETH ETFs are seeing money flow out, as institutional risk appetite cools.
Meanwhile, tokenized trading products have not performed particularly well either. Although 21Shares launched a synthetic ETP tracking Anthropic’s valuation, the market size of related products has continued to decline recently.
So, does this mean this year’s “Uptober” rally is off the table?
It is too early to draw that conclusion.
ETF outflows indicate that investors are reducing their exposure to these products, but they do not mean that all institutions are selling. Nor can fund flows alone tell us that BTC is certain to fall next.
📌 What really matters is when ETF inflows resume, and whether BTC can hold its price steady while funds are flowing out.
If outflows persist, a market rebound could face pressure. If they gradually ease and inflows return, market sentiment may begin to shift.
