A quick update: Open interest in $WAL 1-hour contracts rose 14.7%; prices were up 11.5% over the same period.
Open interest moved, but my position is still zero—I’m just here to listen in.
On a more serious note, open interest and trading volume are two different things: trading volume is how much was traded over a period of time, while open interest is how many contracts are still open at a given moment.
All indicators are summaries of past market activity, and the market can absolutely move in the opposite direction.
