Open interest is down 14.5% and still getting hammered, but are bottom signals starting to emerge?
Today is day 18 of the STAR Radar scan. The total_score is 25, still in the red and not meeting the criteria. But I’ve spotted a few interesting details I have to call out:
① The taker buy ratio is 99.34%, and taker_trend is moving up. What does that mean? The sell orders are quietly being absorbed. Almost every trade in the market is now an aggressive buy. It was still at 81% a few days ago, then shot up to 99% in two days. I’ve seen this kind of divergence many times—it’s often a sign that the big players are nearing the end of their position handoff.
② But open interest is down 14.5% over the past 7 days, and oi_reversal=false. Money is really flowing out; this isn’t a fake dip. If this doesn’t reverse, I won’t make a move.
③ days_to_bsb=0, so we’re already in the BSB bottoming window. Based on the previous assets, the bottom is probably around 0.128–0.14. At 0.17, there’s still some way to go.
④ volume_ratio is 0.04, with trading volume dried up to an extreme. Low volume can signal a price floor, but confirmation requires a bullish candle on high volume.
As for the broader market, $BTC is hovering around 83400, while $ETH 2504 and $SOL 107 are both weak. Without support from the broader market, I’m not forcing a trade.
My plan: I’m staying out at 0.171 for now. I’ll wait for both signals to light up at once: volume picking up and open interest stabilizing and reversing. My initial position will be no more than 10%. If only one condition is met, I’d rather miss the move than chase it. You don’t guess the bottom—you wait for it to show itself.
What do you think at this level—is this a shakeout or distribution? Let’s talk in the comments.
