⚡ The next major Bitcoin-mining opportunity may have very little to do with mining Bitcoin.
Some miners are repositioning their power, land and data-centre sites for AI and high-performance computing. But the opportunity isn’t simply “miners are becoming AI companies.” The key question is whether they can turn those assets into reliable, contracted capacity and deliver it on time.
Two examples:• $CORZ announced a partnership with $AMD for more than 500 MW of US data-centre capacity beginning in 2027, with potential to expand up to 2.5 GW. (investors.corescientific.com)• $WULF announced a 20-year Anthropic lease expected to generate about $19 billion in contracted revenue. Initial capacity is expected from the second half of 2027, with the full campus expected by early 2028. (investors.terawulf.com)
Those headline figures aren’t near-term profit. Investors still need to assess construction costs, financing and possible dilution, grid connections, customer concentration, delivery timelines and what happens to the mining business during the transition.
A useful checklist: Is the power secured and usable? Is there a signed customer contract? When does capacity actually go live? What will it cost to build and finance?
