Brokerage reports say foreign investors have continued selling South Korean stocks. As of the previous trading day, foreign investors had recorded net sales totaling 203.6977 trillion won (about $141.5 billion) on the main board of the Korea Composite Stock Price Index this year. Samsung Electronics and SK hynix alone saw net sales of about 176 trillion won, accounting for 86% of the total. Foreign ownership of Samsung Electronics has fallen to its lowest level since 2008. Multiple factors, including geopolitical risks in the Middle East and controversy over OpenAI’s revenue, are weighing on the market. But events from the end of this month through mid-November—including earnings reports from chip giants and the U.S. midterm elections—could mark a turning point for foreign investors returning to the market.
