Is Apple making waves? A new product goes on sale, and its stock hits an all-time high! What exactly happened?

Apple’s biggest home product in six years is here: HomeView

This time, Apple skipped the traditional launch event and placed its new product in a six-story loft in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood. Exposed brick walls, skylights, fresh flowers—the message was clear: this thing belongs in the home.

What is it?

A 7-inch smart display, bigger than an iPhone but smaller than an iPad. It has a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera that follows you during video calls, plus a four-microphone array for clear audio and noise reduction. The display is attached to an aluminum base with a stainless-steel hinge, so you can adjust the viewing angle. It comes in four colors—Starlight, Rose Pink, Space Gray, and Silver—and can also be mounted on a wall.

The cleverest feature: recognizing people.

Up to six people in a household can each have their own interface. Step in front of the screen and it recognizes you with facial recognition. Swipe up to open your personal home screen. With Siri AI, it can understand the context on your phone: ask it to play the song a friend sent you earlier in the day, check your schedule, or add a reminder. If you didn’t finish something on your phone, just walk over and pick up where you left off.

Anyone who cooks will love it.

Find a recipe online, and it automatically organizes it into an ingredient list and step-by-step instructions. You can follow along as you cook—no more trying to unlock your phone with greasy hands.

So, how much does it cost?

HomeView costs $299. If you want to mount it on a wall, you’ll need to buy a separate stand, starting at $59.95. It goes on sale November 13.

HomePod mini 2 costs $149 and comes in three new colors: blue, green, and pink. The light on top changes color to match the album artwork. It launches October 30.

Apple TV 4K (128GB) costs $299. It can be paired with up to four HomePods for surround sound and launches November 13.
