CoinShares brings asset management on-chain: launches OnChain Strategies in partnership with Safe.

On October 14, CoinShares (Nasdaq: CSHR) announced the first commercial deployment of its OnChain Strategies business, entering into a strategic partnership with Railnet, developed by Safe Labs (the team behind Safe{Wallet}) and Kiln.

Key facts:

1. Model: Safe’s enterprise users (such as the Ethereum Foundation and Circle) can directly access professionally managed stablecoin yield strategies from CoinShares, while retaining full ownership and control of their assets.
2. Strategies: Combines DeFi yield with tokenized RWA yield, offering both on-chain and off-chain sources of returns within a professional risk management framework.
3. Significance: Historically, CoinShares has generated recurring revenue primarily through listed investment products (ETPs). This is its first time deploying its asset management capabilities directly onto blockchain infrastructure, opening up a capital-light distribution channel.

Takeaway: The narrative around traditional asset managers moving on-chain is shifting from “issuing products” to “building infrastructure.” CoinShares is no longer just selling ETPs; it is turning itself into a provider of on-chain yield strategies. The combination of RWA and DeFi yield is aimed at the stablecoins sitting idle in institutional portfolios.
