The market for tokenized U.S. stocks has reached $3.3 billion, but while digging through the data, I noticed something pretty wild: the vast majority of trading happens on Solana and BNB Chain, concentrated in the hours when U.S. markets are closed. While Wall Street is open during the day, these on-chain stock tokens are practically untouched.

This isn’t 24/7 investing—it’s an after-hours casino. People who genuinely want to buy Nvidia aren’t going to wait until 3 a.m. to place an on-chain order. Those who want to gamble after hours are drawn to a window when U.S. markets are closed, with no circuit breakers and no constraints on market-maker quotes. $3.3 billion sounds like a lot, but if demand were really coming from global investors looking to gain exposure to U.S. stocks, the distribution of trading hours wouldn’t look like this.

I’ve been keeping an eye on this figure for a while, and I’ll continue watching to see whether the share of on-chain trading volume changes during the hours when U.S. markets are open. $SOL
