A relic of a bygone era: Binance’s spot market share has actually fallen below 40%.
According to 0xScope’s data from this morning, the CEX spot market has been completely reshuffled over the past year. The reason is simple: who still trades spot on centralized exchanges these days? Apart from people dollar-cost averaging into Bitcoin, retail traders with any ambition either ape into shitcoins on-chain or trade with 1,000x leverage on Hyperliquid.
CEXs work hard to stay compliant and list new coins, only to find that retail traders just don’t care. There are only two good businesses in crypto these days: offering RWA so the U.S. government can bail you out, or running on-chain casinos to fleece degenerate gamblers. Spot trading alone? That’s a relic of the last cycle.
