Same day, same list.
White House disclosure documents show that Trump completed 517 securities transactions in August, bringing the total to more than 9,200 over eight months. Purchases included Meta, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Broadcom, and Oracle, with most transactions in the $1 million to $5 million range. The largest was a Meta purchase on August 21, valued at between $5 million and $25 million. Sales included AMD, Dell, Boeing, and Palo Alto Networks.
On the same day, the White House hosted the “Science: A New Golden Age” summit and awarded the National Medals of Science and the National Medals of Technology and Innovation. Seven companies on the list of honorees—Nvidia, Tesla, SpaceX, Google, AMD, Dell, and Microsoft—all appeared on the disclosed transaction list.
The White House says the accounts are managed by independent third-party institutions and track established indexes such as the Schwab 1000. The president, his family, and the group are not involved in stock selection or approvals. Trading slowed in August compared with June and July, when there were more than 1,000 trades each month.
A White House spokesperson denied claims of a connection between the trades and the award ceremony. There is currently no public evidence showing a causal link between the medal and the trades.
The coincidental timing in the disclosures has been repeatedly noted. On August 18, the account bought senior unsecured notes issued by SpaceX; two days later, he signed the National Space Transportation Policy. The day the August Nvidia trades were made public, Jensen Huang was being awarded the National Medal of Science.
The president says that decisions about the accounts are made by third-party institutions and have nothing to do with the White House. There is currently no independent evidence to confirm or refute this denial.
