Everyone’s saying the grand unification is finally here: one subscription bundles SuperGrok, Cursor, and X Premium+. Sounds like a great deal. But when you check your account dashboard, you might feel differently.
Today I asked Grok Bot just a few simple questions, and my Weekly usage limit in Plan & Usage was already at 14%—and I haven’t even tried image or video generation. The quota refreshes weekly, with the reset date listed as October 20, and my top-up balance is still $0. When I used Grok chat on its own, it felt like I could chat endlessly without running out. Now that the quota is shared, chat, Grok Bot, image generation, and Cursor all draw from the same pool. I’m already getting nervous, and I haven’t generated a single image. Personally, I’m piggybacking on the benefits of a Gold-verified organization, and honestly, it doesn’t feel any better after the merger. If anything, I suspect the quota has been quietly tightened.
On the morning of October 13 (Beijing time), @SpaceXSI announced The X Subscription, combining Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor, and X Premium into a single subscription. The figures below were checked against x.ai, docs.x.ai, and cursor.com on October 14. After reading this, you’ll know what’s officially included, roughly how much usage you get, whether Gold-badged affiliated accounts can access Cursor, and how to verify it for yourself.
1️⃣ How do you choose between the 5 tiers?
Free is $0, Plus is $8/month, Premium is $30/month, Super is $100/month, and Ultra is $200/month, all before tax. Annual plans cost $80 for Plus, $300 for Premium, $1,000 for Super, and $2,000 for Ultra, which works out to about $7, $25, $84, and $167 per month, respectively. Officially, Premium bundles benefits that previously cost about $90/month in total: SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+. Plus lets you use Grok models in Cursor, but doesn’t include Grok Bot. If you want Grok Bot, cloud agents, and code review, Premium is the entry-level option.
2️⃣ Why does the usage limit feel so low?
The company hasn’t published absolute figures, only multiples of Plus: Premium gets 4x, Super 15x, and Ultra 50x. It’s a shared pool, used across Grok chat, voice, image generation, Grok Bot, the API, and Cursor. It resets weekly, and you can top it up when you run out. @cursor_ai says the allowance for coding with Grok models is at least twice that of the equivalent Cursor plan. Third-party models like Claude and GPT aren’t covered by the subscription allowance. They’re available on Premium and above, and are charged at API list prices against your top-up balance.
On October 13, blogger @aiwaremax posted that their real-world test put Ultra’s weekly allowance at around 2.777 billion tokens per day. Working backward from the official multipliers, that suggests around 56 million tokens per week for Plus, 222 million for Premium, 833 million for Super, and 2.777 billion for Ultra. These are estimates based on one account’s usage over a day, scaled up using the multipliers—not official figures. Actual consumption can vary widely depending on the model and cache hits. But this does help explain one thing: Premium’s pool has to cover chat, Bot, image generation, and coding all at once, so it’s no surprise if the percentage climbs after just a few rounds.
3️⃣ Will my existing subscription switch automatically?
No. Existing SuperGrok, Cursor, and X Premium subscriptions will continue at their current prices with their current benefits. It’s up to you whether to switch. If you do, you’ll get a refund for the unused portion of your old plan, sent separately to your original payment method, and the new plan will be charged at full price. Any limited-time discount will appear in your billing settings. If you have a paid Cursor plan, start at cursor.com/unify. If you don’t, you can upgrade directly in the subscription settings on x.com. If you currently have Premium+, you’ll need to choose at least Premium to keep your Premium+ benefits. If you bought Cursor through the Apple App Store, remember to cancel it yourself in your iPhone settings after switching, or Apple will keep charging you.
4️⃣ Can Gold-badged affiliated accounts get Cursor usage?
The official eligibility page is clear: X accounts managed by an organization, including affiliated accounts, can’t join The X Subscription; only personal X accounts are eligible. So far, I haven’t found any official information saying affiliated accounts can get Cursor usage. I have a Gold-badged affiliated account myself. My SuperGrok and Grok Bot access comes from my organization, and when I signed in to Cursor with X, I saw a Premium label and a Weekly usage limit in the dashboard. My understanding is that this most likely reflects the Premium status and shared usage of the X account itself—it doesn’t mean you’ve purchased a separate Cursor plan. For the definitive answer, check Cursor’s Billing and Usage pages, as well as Plan & Usage on x.ai. You’ll be able to tell at a glance whether they show a plan name, usage percentage, and included allowance. Enterprise customers also won’t be migrated automatically and need to contact their account manager.
5️⃣ Where’s the best place to buy?
The company explicitly says it sells directly only through X Subscription Corp, with x.ai/pricing, x.com, and cursor.com as the purchase channels. It doesn’t authorize any resellers or third parties, and accounts bought elsewhere could be banned at any time. To save money, choose annual billing: Premium annual costs $60 less per year than paying monthly.
My take: the bundle sounds like a good deal, but if you use Grok Bot heavily and also generate images and write code, Premium’s shared pool could run out quickly. Don’t let the “previously added up to $90” line cloud your judgment. If you rely heavily on third-party models for coding, remember to factor in the separate API costs too. Prices, discounts, and account eligibility vary by region and account, so check your billing settings carefully before switching—and be sure to DYOR.
Before you rush to celebrate, open Plan & Usage and check how much you’ve already used this week. Then decide whether to switch or move up a tier.
