An airdrop is when a project distributes tokens for free to eligible addresses. It is commonly used to reward early users and broaden token ownership.
In September 2020, Uniswap airdropped UNI to addresses that had previously used the protocol. Each eligible address received at least 400 tokens.
When managing your funds, the most important thing to remember is: “Pay a fee to claim an airdrop” and “Enter your recovery phrase to verify” are both scams. Close them immediately if you see them.
