📰 NEAR has recently come back into the conversation, not simply because of L1 competition, but because it’s bringing AI, privacy, and cross-chain trading together in one product suite.
NEAR Intents has processed over $33 billion in cumulative trading volume, including $4.76 billion over the past 30 days, and generated more than $53 million in cumulative fees. At the pace of the past 30 days, that works out to roughly $87 million in annualized gross fees and about $26 million in annualized net revenue. Those numbers don’t really fit the image many people have of an ordinary public blockchain.
🔥 Even more interesting, Robinhood Chain has integrated NEAR Intents and [redacted], covering more than 30 networks and over 180 assets. Hyperliquid perpetuals, as well as Ondo’s U.S. stocks and ETF assets, have also been added to this cross-chain gateway. Users don’t even need to worry much about which chain they’re on.
💡 NEAR’s tokenomics have also changed: its annual inflation rate has been cut from 5% to 2.5%, and since February, Intents protocol fees have been used to buy back NEAR on the open market. There’s also a proposal to lower inflation further, to 1.6%. Revenue growth, lower inflation, and increased buybacks—all together, it’s no surprise the market is reassessing its value.

👀 There’s also tangible progress on the AI front. NEAR AI is developing private inference and a decentralized compute network, where users can stake NEAR to receive AI compute credits. On September 29, Bitwise also launched the first U.S. spot NEAR ETF, ticker NRR, with early assets of about $60 million.
Honestly, the most interesting question about NEAR now is whether the market still sees it as an ordinary L1, or has started to view it as infrastructure for cross-chain trading and privacy-focused AI. Would you add it to your long-term watchlist?
