CPI drops tonight at 20:30 | BTC touched 84,168 again and got held back; ETH held the previous low at 2,409 by just 9 cents

The U.S. September CPI will be released tonight at 20:30 Beijing time. Until then, the market is still jockeying for position.

$BTC is currently at 83,634, up 2.71% over 24 hours. It reached a high of 84,168 overnight, just $187 short of the 84,355 38.2% Fibonacci level. Yesterday, it also came within $3 of the mark at 84,352 but failed to break through. It has now been held below this level for two consecutive days. The first level to watch on the downside is the 24-hour low of 81,432.

$ETH is currently at 2,518, up 3.77% over 24 hours. Its low today was 2,409.09—just 9 cents above the long-wick low of 2,409 from October 9. It held that level precisely and then bounced. But it has yet to reclaim the 2,550 round-number level, with today's high reaching only 2,538.52.

Leverage has already taken a hit: yesterday's figures put total liquidations across the market at around $774 million, 89% of them long positions.
