Prime Intellect, an AI infrastructure company, said it has acquired Moondream, a lightweight open-source vision-language model, for an undisclosed amount. According to Foresight News, Moondream founders Vik Korrapati and Jay Allen will join Prime Intellect to expand its inference business and advance research on multimodal models for vision and computer operation.

Prime Intellect said Moondream's Photon inference engine and GPU kernel optimization technology are being integrated into its technology stack. Moondream 3.1 is already available through Prime Inference, and the Moondream brand will continue to be used for small, efficient multimodal models.
