If you’re also an ordinary person with no experience and no time to watch the markets, you can use this approach as a guide. I’m no trading expert either—experts can skip this. I’m just going to talk about how beginners can avoid costly mistakes.
When entering the crypto market, your first goal isn’t to make quick money—it’s to survive. When you see other people showing off their gains and rush in, it’s often not because an opportunity has come along, but because your emotions have taken over.
Set yourself a “spare-money firewall”: only use money you could lose entirely without affecting rent, food, debt payments, or household expenses. Don’t borrow money, don’t touch your emergency fund, and don’t assume you have a knack for trading just because you made money the first time—then immediately put in more.
Step two: watch the market before placing an order. Keep an eye on the movements of $BTC, $ETH and $BNB , and note down why you want to buy: do you understand the market structure, or are you buying just because the price suddenly went up and everyone in the group is talking about it? The value of watching the market isn’t to get you trading right away, but to help you recognize whether you’re making your own judgment or being driven by emotion.
Step three: set a loss limit. Before you invest, write down the maximum loss you can afford to take. If you hit that limit, pause trading and review what happened—don’t try to win it back by adding to your position. What’s usually truly dangerous isn’t getting one decision wrong, but refusing to accept a loss and putting in more money to prove yourself right.
If you happen to make a profit, treat it as luck the market has given you, at least for now. Don’t rush to increase your position size. The crypto market can easily create an illusion: make money once, and you think you’ve figured out the pattern; lose once, and you want to make it back on the next trade.
If you really want to trade today, don’t rush to deposit funds. Open the market charts, write down the amount you plan to invest and the maximum loss you can afford, then decide whether the trade is worth making.
