Crypto Morning Brief | October 14

1. What a sudden turn. South Korea’s Kospi plunged 6%, chip stocks fell 8%, but $BTC held firm despite $800 million in crypto liquidations, climbing back above 83,000.
Crypto and equities have gone in completely opposite directions.

2. Institutions are pulling out. The $BTC ETF saw net outflows of 788 coins in a single day (about $65.55 million), bringing its seven-day total to 8,267 coins.
The $ETH ETF saw even heavier outflows: nearly 30,000 coins in one day, and 217,000 over seven days.

3. China’s chip offensive continues to ripple through the market, with losses for Micron, SK Hynix, and SanDisk widening to 5%.
The AI and semiconductor sectors are still under short-term pressure.

4. The liquidation powder keg for $ETH is on the long side. Within 3% below the current price, $26 million in long positions are at risk of forced liquidation, compared with just $7 million in shorts above it.
The largest cluster is around 2,472, where $18 million in positions are at risk—just 1.4% below the current price.

5. A Hyperliquid whale opened a $60.7 million long position in $ETH , but the trader’s identity has not been verified.
$ETH is currently around 2,500, the ETF is seeing outflows, and CPI is weighing on sentiment. This is a major bet against the trend.

The liquidation level around $ETH 2,472 is the one to watch: a move down to that level could trigger a chain reaction.
