Good news: Russia’s largest bank, Sberbank, has secured a central bank license to trade cryptocurrencies. Starting December 1, customers can buy and sell crypto directly in the bank’s app, with trading and custody all under one roof. The world’s largest state-owned bank is officially open for business. Bad news: in that same country, it’s still illegal to buy a cup of coffee with cryptocurrency. In other words: the bank can sell you crypto, but you can’t spend it as money.
