A ByteDance employee posted about their experience:
They left their workstation to use the restroom. When they returned, their +1 (direct manager) publicly asked them, “Does it take 40 minutes to use the restroom?”
The employee clarified that they had only been away for a little over ten minutes and didn’t know why anyone thought it was 40 minutes.
But being questioned in public about a basic bodily need made them feel humiliated and disrespected.
Is this really the corporate culture at a big tech company?
