According to CNBC, Bank of America’s latest global fund manager survey found that 37% of investors would consider moving from stocks to bonds if the 10-year Treasury yield reached 6%, while 14% pointed to 6.5% and 19% said yields are already high enough to prompt a shift. The 10-year Treasury yield hit a 24-year high of 5.365% last week and traded around 5.21% on Tuesday. Yields have climbed in recent weeks as investors worry that higher oil prices tied to the war in the Middle East could lift inflation and push the Federal Reserve to tighten policy further. Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack said Monday that higher rates may be needed to stop an inflationary mindset from taking hold. Investors are due more clues on the path for yields this week, with September consumer inflation data set for Wednesday and producer prices due Thursday.
