🚨The crypto market rebounded today, but ETF money is still flowing out

Yesterday’s market was interesting: on Monday the market saw a sharp drop — according to CoinGlass data, liquidations over 24 hours reached as high as $771 million, and $BTC briefly fell below $82,000. However, bulls started fighting back today: Bitcoin has rebounded to around $84,000, with the 24-hour spot price at about $83,468 (+0.8%); Ethereum is at $2,519 (-0.5%); BNB at $745 (-0.25%); Solana at $108 (-1.2%); and altcoins as a whole are underperforming Bitcoin.

But don’t pop the champagne yet. Market maker Wintermute warned yesterday that U.S. spot ETFs saw a total outflow of about $1.22 billion last week ($679 million from Bitcoin products and $542 million from Ethereum products), the largest weekly outflow since late June. As institutional funds cautiously exit, the key support for the crypto market is weakening.

The real test is tonight. The U.S. September CPI will be released at 20:30 tonight (Beijing time), which directly affects expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts and overall market risk appetite. Inflation below expectations would be bullish for risk assets; above expectations could trigger another round of selling.

The crypto Fear & Greed Index is currently 57 (Greed), but it was 73 a week ago, showing a clear cooling in sentiment. In the short term: the risk of chasing gains before the CPI release is relatively high. Focus on whether Bitcoin can hold above $84,000 and whether ETF fund outflows will stop.
