Wednesday, October 14, is a date global markets are watching. The U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) data will be released that day, and economists expect headline inflation to rise 3.6% for September. A Bybit preview says markets have fully priced in one Fed rate hike by the end of 2026. CPI measures the prices of goods and services consumed by households. A reading above expectations tends to strengthen the dollar and weigh on risk assets, including crypto; a reading below expectations could provide a tailwind.

Other assets are positioning themselves. Gold rose 0.4% to US$4,188.27 per ounce, and some of that gain may be more closely tied to Middle East tensions and rising oil prices than to CPI expectations alone. Oil fell after Brent touched its highest level since September 15, and the PPI report follows on Thursday.

$BTC is at 83.334, still below the H4 EMA50 at 83.427—simply put, the average price over the past several hours. The H1 RSI at 52.3 and D1 RSI at 52.7 are around the midpoint, signaling a neutral market rather than one being driven in either direction. The H4 and H1 MACD are positive, and a positive histogram means short-term pressure is still to the upside. The daily structure remains bullish, while the Fear & Greed Index at 57 on a 0–100 scale puts the market in neutral territory.

ARKUS signal for Bitcoin: LONG confidence HIGH with status in_zone, meaning the price is already inside the entry zone of 83.080 to 83.386. The invalidation level is 80.730—the threshold that, if breached, would invalidate the scenario. But the confluence grade is C, with a score of 62 and maximum leverage of 2x, while the timeframes are not aligned: D1 bullish, H4 mixed, H1 bullish, M15 mixed.

The ARKUS radar is also mixed. A large-trader positioning ratio of 1.61 indicates more long positions than short ones. A positive funding rate is only a periodic cost indicator between leveraged traders, and since its value is incomplete, it can’t yet be read as a definite directional signal.

In my view, this CPI report is more of a catalyst for direction than a definitive decider. The active entry zone plus the 80.730 invalidation level provide a framework, but the C grade and dump warning on the radar explain why price hasn’t been pushed in either direction. As long as 80.730 isn’t breached, the LONG ARKUS framework remains intact; if CPI comes in well above 3.6% and the dollar strengthens, the pressure reverses.

One thing that’s easy to forget: CPI and PPI are released back to back, so Wednesday’s reaction may not last through Thursday.#cpiwatch
