The Ledger Nano X that was taken apart over a year ago already had extra circuitry and an antenna sitting there. So why did the discussion only heat up this week, after nearly $100 million was stolen?

Joe Grand said a man in Thailand contacted him in August 2025. The man had bought a cheap Ledger online and only meant to replace the battery. But when he opened it up, he found a smaller battery, unauthorized circuitry, extra wiring, and an antenna. After he posted it on Reddit, local police reportedly didn’t take it very seriously.

This was more than a year before this week’s supply-chain attack blew up. I put this timeline next to $BTC 83692.01: it’s up just 1.19% in 24 hours, and the price is so quiet you wouldn’t think a trust incident had just happened. The market seems not to have priced in the theft and hardware tampering together.

Are you more concerned about the official supply chain, or cheap, secondhand channels?
