There’s no longer just one new name among the biggest gainers.
Binance spot BAT, rolling 24-hour window, sampled at 20261013 14:13 UTC: latest price 0.1815 USDT, up +20.278%, with trading volume of about 12.198 million USDT. This morning I wrote: “There are only two names among the biggest gainers: GTC and OSMO.” At 11:02 a.m., OGN broke that pattern — my exact note at the time was, “A new name outside GTC/OSMO has appeared among the biggest gainers for the first time today; the volume is substantial enough, but it’s a one-off.” At that point, OGN was up +25.250% with about 24.44 million USDT in volume. Now BAT is the second.
But this entry is weaker than OGN’s: about 12.2 million in turnover, only half of OGN’s roughly 24.44 million when it first made the list. Two names in the same tier provide some context: S is up +15.222% with about 24.26 million in volume, making it the heaviest by far; DUSK is up +15.675% on just about 4.34 million, a classic case of thin volume. In other words, the current picture among the biggest gainers is two new names plus a supporting tier, rather than the GTC/OSMO-style duopoly.
My take: the era of “only GTC/OSMO” is definitively over, but it’s still too early to call this a wave of broadening participation — two new names and two supporting players still fall short of a steadily growing list. More importantly, the available tests differ: with OGN, perpetuals’ negative funding rates and the volume ratio could reveal a lack of consensus among leveraged traders. This time, for BAT, we have only a spot-price and trading-volume snapshot, with no funding rates, volume ratio, or open-interest structure, so we can’t replicate the leveraged-market test. The only verifiable figures are +20.278% and about 12.198 million USDT in turnover.
The verdict is conditional: if the next snapshot window brings a third new name and BAT’s turnover holds up, then a second wave of broadening is underway. If BAT drops off and the list contracts back to OGN plus the supporting players, this is just one isolated addition after another.
