Traditional brokers folding staking into a unified account is more noteworthy than simply adding “another exchange.”

Interactive Brokers (Nasdaq: IBKR) announced today that it has launched cryptocurrency staking, initially supporting $ETH, with infrastructure provided by ZeroHash. Eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients can submit staking and unstaking requests through the Staking Dashboard in the Client Portal and check their pending status. Rewards are credited as additional staked crypto assets and can compound while held.

CEO Milan Galik compared this to the firm’s Stock Yield Enhancement Program: if you hold an asset, you want another way to earn a return on it. There’s significant context, too: IBKR already supports trading in around 20 digital assets, including Bitcoin, $ETH, and Solana; deposits via USDC, RLUSD, and PYUSD; and transfers to and from custodial and non-custodial wallets. Product availability varies by affiliate and location.

Brokerage platforms bring spot, stocks, options, and collateral into a single interface, reducing friction; availability, unlocking, and settlement timing remain subject to local regulations and network unlocking. This is not investment advice.
