What exactly is the difference between isolated and cross margin?
In cross margin mode, the liquidation price is usually farther from the current price, but if liquidation occurs, most of the balance in your account will be lost. In cross margin mode, the wallet balance for the relevant currency in your futures account serves as collateral for these positions, so losses can use up your entire account balance.
A position with a large unrealized loss in cross margin mode can eat into the margin used by other positions, along with the safety cushion of your entire account.
